My friend Alison posted something on Facebook the other day and I LOVED it. Check it out!
Let’s not jump to conclusions. Let’s not get mad at people right away. We all have our days! Maybe your friend is acting defensive cuz her mom just yelled at her. Maybe that car just cut you off cuz that dude’s kid is screaming in the backseat, and he was distracted. Sure, some people just suck. But most people don’t. Everyone has a story. Let’s try to be patient and understanding. And communicate.
(I remember years ago I was riding in a minivan with a handful of family members. I was in the backseat, watching the cars go by. We were all chatting and laughing, minding our own business. I saw some car pass us and he was PISSED and screaming at us. I was the only one who noticed. It was clear that we did something to him, and he was extremely upset. And all I could think was “Dude, we are just minding our own business. Being together as a family, heading to a wedding. I’m sorry if we did something to upset you, but shit happens. I swear, we are not deliberately trying to ruin your life. We’re gonna get through this.”)
This article/blog/whatever (see link in the first sentence) also relates to one of the Four Agreements: Don’t Make Assumptions. We all come from different places and create our own rules, guidelines, etc. What pisses me off as a driver, you might not care about. Maybe your pet peeve is something totally different. Instead of focusing on who’s right, let’s just try to understand each other, and understand where everyone is coming from.
THANK YOU for reading! I love you and pray for your safety, happiness, and health!
