[had to write this quickly…hoping there aren’t any spelling errors!]
I wrote about this a long time ago. But I think it’s important and needs to be repeated. For myself! And for others.
When bad stuff happens, we are sad. Some bad stuff is a little bad, some is awful. Flat tires, deaths, cancer, identity theft, car accidents, fires, burglary, injuries, breakups, lost jobs, etc. So much can go wrong. And we feel sad/angry when this stuff happens. Naturally!
What do we feel when none of this happens? When things are going fine? Do we feel just normal? This is the way life is supposed to be? No. I think no. If we get a flat tire, it’s ok to be frustrated. But what if you DON’T get a flat tire? Should we just sail on through the day at level zero, on the lookout for other stuff that might go wrong? Nah. I think we should take a moment to think “I got to work safely today! And I am grateful for that. Because if I didn’t, a lot of people would be upset.”
Take the time to be thankful, and appreciate the things that go well. Even if it’s just for a moment.
When you are upset, assign a number to it. Let’s say something really shitty happens, and you’re at a negative 10. Like that pain chart they have in hospitals. So what about tomorrow, when things are going well? You can’t be at a 0. “How are you? I’m fine. I’m Ok. Not great but not bad.” No! You are great!! You are happy! And grateful that nothing shitty has happened today.
Being thankful leads to so many good things. Start your day in a thankful mood and your life will change.
So remember! A boring typical day is a reason to celebrate. Cheers to no flat tires! No sore throats. No bad report cards. Woo!
THANK YOU for reading! I love you and pray for your safety, happiness, and health!
